【摘要】:Thistestmethodisdesignedtoproducedataindicativeofthedegreeofcrosslinkinginultrahighmolecularweightpolyethylenethathasbeencrosslinkedchemicallyorbyionizingradiation.Theresultsaresensitivetothetesttemperature,solvent,andmethodused.Forthecomparisonofdatabetweeninstitutions,caremustbetakentohavethesametestconditionsandreagents.Thedatacanbeusedfordoseuniformityanalysis,fundamentalresearch,andqualityassurancetesting.1.1Thistestmethoddescribeshowthecrosslinkdensity,molecularweightbetweencrosslinks,andnumberofrepeatunitsbetweencrosslinksinultra-highmolecularweightpolyethylene(UHMWPE)crosslinkedbyionizingradiationorbychemicalmeanscanbedeterminedbymeasuringtheswellingratioofsamplesimmersedino-xylene.Examplesofexperimentaltechniquesusedtomakethesemeasurementsarediscussedherein.1.2Thetestmethodreportedheremeasuresthechangeinheightofasamplespecimenwhileitisimmersedinthesolvent.Volumetricswellratiosassumethatthesampleiscrosslinkedisotropically,andthatthechangeindimensionwillbeuniforminalldirections.Thistechniqueavoidsuncertaintyinducedbysolventevaporationortemperaturechange.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
